A Puccini spectacular!
A definite must see of the season .
The adaptation of the opera to student living gave this old opera a brand new, healthy make over London style! Expecting a near literal translation of Puccini’s original, I was stunned by the contemporary student slang and political jokes. I certainly have never seen an Opera like it. Accessible and open, if you have never been to an Opera before, this is a great way to edge yourself in slowly.
The surprise promenade during the performance really worked and the characters really adapted to their new surroundings. On that part I will keep quiet for all those planning on going to see it, being thrown unknowingly into the heart of the performance will give the show that extra wow factor.
I was standing throughout the performance. That however did not detract from the experience one bit!
