It’s that time of year again, The time we mull over our lives and see what we can do better.
Yes, I’m talking about a new year with new resolutions. Most of us have probably broken our resolutions by now but before we delve into the new, let’s have a look at what happened in 2012!
Euro 2012, US and Mayoral elections, jumping from space and of course, the Olympics. What a year it has been! The Olympics were arguably a great success and to be a Londoner in London living minutes away from Stratford during those few weeks, was totally mind-blowing and i think Lord Coe really did help inspire a generation. I’ve had more fun than I’ve had in a while not to mention my trips to Amsterdam, California and Budapest. Oh right, I graduated as well. Not too bad for a years work I think :-P.
Now to move to the future. I’ve come up with a few new year goals to share with you that will hopefully see me through to 2014:
1) Read a poem every day
I don’t read enough poems, this will be a great way to kick-start my poetry repertoire.
2) A positive thought a day
Being a recent graduate looking for real work, things can get difficult, hopefully getting some good out of everyday wont drive me to depression.
3) Keep up to date with current affairs
Now, as a recent politcs and sociology grad, i’ve slipped from reading articles and interesting books, keeping up to date with the news and articles. I think I should get back up to scratch. No slacking Nathalie!
4) 50 Books Challenge
My degree left me not reading as much as I used to and my reading speed slowed. To catch up on all those books I said I’d read, but haven’t, I hope the 50 books in a year challenge will be a fun way to get back up to speed.
5) Finish that novel I’ve been working on for two years
I think this is pretty self-explanatory. Book, started it in 2010, i probably should finish it soon…
6) Go to my friend’s wedding in Maine and visit NYC
I’m going to say, I’ll keep you updated fairly regularly (perhaps even daily!) But we all know that is not going to happen- hopefully it will- so here’s to a new year, new adventures and new people.
Thank you to everyone who made 2012 a great year and who will continue to make 2013 just as good. Lots of love!
Let me know what your resolutions are in the comments and things you hope to achieve in 2013. I’d love to know.
Over and Out!
